The Power Plant

RP Energy’s power plant will use the most advanced environment-friendly technology in the use of coal for power - the Circulating-Fluidized-Bed (CFB) technology.

The RP Energy power plant is located on Redondo Peninsula within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Brgy. Cawag, Subic, Province of Zambales, southwest of the existing Hanjin Shipyard. The project site is in an area allocated for industrial purposes and is within the jurisdiction of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

The project site was selected based on the recommendation of the SBMA. Soil acidity of the area renders it incompatible with agriculture. After taking these into consideration, the SBMA classified the area as industrial and best used for industrial facilities, such as shipyards, power plants and manufacturing plants.

The project site also provides easy access by sea, which is important for coal supply and transport of materials and equipment. Moreover, industries located in the Subic Freeport Zone can be assured of reliable power supply as the power plant will be next door.
